Can a MONSTER actually be smart?

A monster, smart? No way!!!! It cant be true. But in the the book Frankenstein it is most defiantly true!
In this novel ,the monster of Frankenstein is showing signs of actually having intelligence. The first sign we discover in chapter 11 is that he is finding many ways to use fire. The monster uses the fire for warmth and discovers that when the fire starts to decrease he can put wood on the fire to keep it alive. The monster also finds out that he can use the fire to make his food more palatable.
The Monster next shows signs of rapidly growing intelligence when he stumbles upon a family. He discovers emotions, like his guilt of taking there food while they are in the state of poverty. Also one of the most important things about his newly found knowledge is that he has learned from the family how to talk! Yes, the monster can now talk! He also learns to read! He learns a bit of world history when Felix is teaching Safie. The monster is getting so intelligent that he is now able to speak and understand the language perfectly, also the monster learns about human society by listening to the cottagers’ conversations!
WOW! who would have guessed that the monster would gain this vast amount of knowledge!
Do you think the monster will keep gaining knowledge farther on in the book?
Do you think that there is possible emotions like LOVE that the monster will learn?
