I was not expecting the ending the book gave us. I thought the ending was good but i did like the plays ending more. In the novel Victor never got to see the monster again before he died. But in the play he died in his arms. THe plays ending was more dramatic, so thats probably why i liked it more.
Which ending did you like? Why did you like it?

STALKER?!?!?
Every where Victor seems to be the monster is there. Looking threw windows... always watching his creator. Killing people to get what he wants from them. Victor seems stuck in a terrible situation. There is no possibility of him taking his family and running because the monster will soon follow. It seems that when the monster stresses him out he gets ill. Which shows that it is psychological.
Do you think it is psychologically related?
And how do you think the monster is keeping track of Victor every where he is?

WHAT IS IT?
As i was reading I came across the book called Paradise lost. I had never heard of the book so I was curious to see what the history is of this book, what this book about, and why it influences the monster.
Paradise Lost, I found, is an epic poem in blank verse. It's was author the 17Th-century English poet John Milton. Paradise lost was originally published in 1667 in ten books! A second edition soon followed in 1674, but then was turned into twelve books.
The poem Paradise lost is about the Christian story of the Fall of Man, the temptation of Ada and Eve by the "fallen angel" Satan and about them being thrown out of the Garden of Eden.
In the poems Milton incorporates Paganism(which denotes all religions other than Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) ,classical Greek references, and Christianity within the poem. Paradise lost talks about diverse topics from politics, marriage, monarchy, and discusses many difficult topics and issues, like fate, predestination, the Trinity, and the introduction of sin and death into the world, as well as angels, fallen angels, Satan, and the war in heaven. Milton sources are mainly from Genesis, much of the New Testament, the Book of Enoch, and other parts of the Old Testament.
Paradise Lost, throughout the novel, provides information for the monster as he tries to understand his identity. He compares himself to both Adam and Satan, perceiving himself as both human and demonic. He compares himself to Adam because he was created and there is no other being like him. He compares himself to satin because he has envy and hate in him. He is unlike anything else, as Adam is and he is cursed like Satan. And in this part of the novel he becomes aware of his creator’s (Victor Frankenstein) hate for him.
Did you know what Paradise lost was? Had you ever heard of the book before you saw it in Frankenstein?
What else do you think the monster could compare his life to?

UUUUUUGLY
How would you feel if everyone ran and screamed at the sight of you?
This is what Frankenstein has to endure throughout his whole entire life. His creator put life into him then abandoned him. Walking into town, all the towns people screamed and ran. The family he watched and loved chased him away. Poor monster abandoned and left to fend for himself.
If it was me I to would go after my "father" if he put me through everything that Frankenstein did to him. I would blame everything on him. But i still would never harm him because he would be the only one that would no what i was going through and i would never kill my creator.
Do you think you would have rage if this happened to you? How would you handle the pain and the abandonment of everyone?

Can a MONSTER actually be smart?
A monster, smart? No way!!!! It cant be true. But in the the book Frankenstein it is most defiantly true!
In this novel ,the monster of Frankenstein is showing signs of actually having intelligence. The first sign we discover in chapter 11 is that he is finding many ways to use fire. The monster uses the fire for warmth and discovers that when the fire starts to decrease he can put wood on the fire to keep it alive. The monster also finds out that he can use the fire to make his food more palatable.
The Monster next shows signs of rapidly growing intelligence when he stumbles upon a family. He discovers emotions, like his guilt of taking there food while they are in the state of poverty. Also one of the most important things about his newly found knowledge is that he has learned from the family how to talk! Yes, the monster can now talk! He also learns to read! He learns a bit of world history when Felix is teaching Safie. The monster is getting so intelligent that he is now able to speak and understand the language perfectly, also the monster learns about human society by listening to the cottagers’ conversations!
WOW! who would have guessed that the monster would gain this vast amount of knowledge!
Do you think the monster will keep gaining knowledge farther on in the book?
Do you think that there is possible emotions like LOVE that the monster will learn?

Guilty or Innocent?
Chapter 7 in this novel is a very important chapter. It is constantly filled with events that happen. In this chapter we find out that Victor Frankensteins youngest brother has been murdered. Victor ,upon hearing this, rushes to Geneva. But when Victor arrives the gates are closed and he ends up walking alone around the spot where his brother was found died. Then Victor looks up and sees his monster!!!! He immediately thinks that his monster has killed his beloved brother William. In my opinion so far i am not sure that the monster did kill his brother. In the back of my mind there is always the thought that maybe he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Maybe Justine is the guilty one. Or maybe he is not and the monster is.
In your opinion who do you think is GUILTY? And for whom do you think is INNOCENT?

Known knowledge? or a little bit of something new??
Elixir of life
As i was reading I came across the Elixir of life. I was curious of its exact meaning.....
I discovered that the elixir of life is also known as the elixir of immortality. The Elixir of life is a legendary potion, or drink, that grants the drinker eternal life or eternal youth. The elixir of life was also said to be able to create life. It is related to the myths of Enoch, Thoth, and Hermes Trismegistus. Some say that they have actually found the elixir of life? Do you think that someone has found the elixir of life? Do you think that it is even real?
THE START OF SOMETHING NEW
This week my english teacher, Mr. Davis, assigned us a project. (He normal does not do projects just classic read it and then a quiz.) The project is to create your own blog!!! Now I normally am not a blogger but I am finding it interesting and posibly fun! But we are blogging about the novel FRANKENSTEIN. This novel has some tough vocabulary but as I get farther into the book I am understanding the words and plot better. So i am excitied to write more about this book because it is very intriging!
